Rated Speed: The water pump is designed to operate at a rated speed that is synchronized with the engine's rotational speed. For the C18 engine in the CAT 365C, 385C, and 390D excavators, the rated speed of the water pump is usually in the range of 1000 – 2000 revolutions per minute (rpm). Operating within this speed range ensures efficient coolant circulation and optimal cooling performance.
Maximum Speed: The maximum allowable speed of the pump is approximately 2500 rpm. Continuous operation at the maximum speed can lead to increased wear and a reduced lifespan of the pump's internal components, such as the impeller, bearings, and seals. It is advisable to keep the pump's operation within the rated speed range for long-term reliability.
