Performance Specifications
Flow Rate
The water pump is designed to provide an adequate flow rate of coolant. The typical flow rate can range from approximately 60 – 120 liters per minute (L/min). This flow rate is crucial for efficient heat transfer from the engine to the radiator and other cooling components.
Pressure Generation
It generates a pressure to drive the coolant through the engine's cooling passages and radiator. The operating pressure usually falls within the range of 0.8 – 1.2 bar (11.6 – 17.4 psi). This pressure is sufficient to overcome the resistance of the hoses and the radiator core to ensure a continuous and smooth coolant flow.
Speed – Dependent Performance
The performance of the water pump is related to the engine's rotational speed. As the engine speed varies, so does the pump's speed. The pump is designed to operate effectively across a range of engine speeds. For example, from the engine's idle speed (around 700 – 900 revolutions per minute, rpm) up to the maximum operating speed (which could be around 2000 – 2200 rpm).
