Type
Centrifugal – type water pumps. This design is highly efficient in creating the necessary flow to transfer heat away from the engine components. The centrifugal force generated by the rotating impeller pushes the coolant outwards, creating a pressure difference that drives the flow through the engine block, cylinder head, and other parts of the cooling circuit.
2. Mechanical Features
Housing
Material: Usually constructed from cast iron or high – grade aluminum alloy. Cast iron provides excellent durability and heat resistance, while aluminum alloy offers the advantage of reduced weight without sacrificing significant strength. The choice of material may vary depending on the specific design requirements and cost – effectiveness considerations of the pump manufacturer.
Design: The housing is engineered to provide a secure and leak – free enclosure for the internal components of the pump. It has precisely machined ports for coolant inlet and outlet, which are designed to match the corresponding connections on the engine's cooling system.
Impeller

Geometry: The impeller's shape is optimized to maximize the transfer of energy from the rotating shaft to the coolant. It typically has a series of curved vanes that increase the velocity of the coolant as it passes through, enhancing the overall flow rate and pressure generation of the pump.
