This flow rate is vital as it determines the amount of diesel fuel that is precisely delivered into the combustion chamber during each injection cycle, which in turn affects the engine's power output and combustion efficiency.
Spray Pattern and Atomization
These injectors are designed to produce a specific spray pattern. They often have a multi – hole nozzle design, typically with 5 – 7 holes. The spray angle can range from about 150° – 170°. This configuration enables efficient atomization of the diesel fuel, breaking it into fine droplets. Good atomization ensures better mixing of fuel with air in the combustion chamber, leading to more complete combustion and reduced emissions.
The droplet size of the atomized fuel can vary, but on average, the diameter of the fuel droplets might be in the range of 50 – 150 micrometers.
Injection Pressure
They are built to operate under high – pressure conditions. The normal operating injection pressure for these injectors can be between 25 – 35 MPA. High – pressure injection helps in improving the fuel – air mixing process and enhances the combustion characteristics of the diesel fuel, resulting in better fuel economy and reduced particulate matter emissions.
